Let’s get out of Here

I wrote this poem for myself as well as my husband. When he read it it made him chuckle and I got a great big smile of agreement. This was a time in our lives where we both felt underappreciated by other people in our lives.

I’m ready to leave this town without even saying goodbye
I need to just get in my car and drive drive drive
Don’t look back forget I came from here
Don’t worry I’ll take you with me Dear
Just you and me on a long open road
After we’ve packed up and everything else is sold
We won’t tell anyone where we are
We don’t even have to send anyone a card
Let them all wonder if we fell off the face of the earth
Maybe then they will all realize our worth
All this tension swirling around our life
You could cut it right in half with a knife
Come with me and we’ll just blow this joint
Maybe then they’ll all get the point
We weren’t put here to ease their minds
We are here to have the best life we can find

We’ve all had that feeling at one time or another . . . most of us more than once, I’m sure. We often find, after the dust settles, that our best life can be found right under our nose.

Thanks for checking out my poems. I can so appreciate the fact that there are people out there that can relate to all the emotions I have. It makes me feel like I’m not so alone after all. Thanks again, Susan

I can’t count the times I have had these very same feelings,
